Greetings to everyone! It is 2009 and I'm late again with my greeting! Oh well, I'm happy to say it's because I've been very busy with my work and Vegas Artists Guild.
2008 was a great year -- I had a phenomenal show at McMullan's Irish Pub where I unveiled my Irony Series, which consisted of four new paintings: Velvet Rust, One Man's Trash, Stop and Smell and Life and Life. I also released my first book about the Irony Series, which included all of my artists’ notes. There are only a few copies left out of the original 50 printed, so I was very happy about my extra effort.
I was trying really hard to get in to Art Cards, but they were a real strain on my eyes. The size is perfect (2.5 x 3.5 inches) but I must be more selective about the subject matter and not try to do so much detail. I started to lose my interest in painting until I started a regular painting recently. It's turning out to be nothing short of spectacular, but more about that later. It will be a big surprise to everyone! Anyway, it helped me regain my interest in painting again.
Another great event that happened was attending my brother’s retirement party with my sister. It was a 70s disco party, and we totally surprised him! I was also very honored to attend a speech by President Bill Clinton. He has always been one of my favorite presidents, and I believe he is one of the best speakers I've ever heard. I am still attending meetings as a member of the Nevada Governors Council on Developmental Disabilities and I'm in the middle of my three-year term. And, as always, I'm very involved with the Vegas Artists Guild. We are a very busy group and most of us are always showing work somewhere in southern Nevada. Right now we are getting ready for our Spring show at the CSN Artspace Gallery, which will be from May 1 until June 30, 2009. In September we will be showing at Barnes & Noble Bookstore in Henderson. Stay tuned for our many exhibits. I hope to see you out and about in the art world! As always, thanks for your support!

Greetings friends and collectors,
I wanted to let you know that I introduced a book at my last art exhibit on September 6, 2008. It's called IRONY, and it is the complete artist notes about the four paintings I created for this show. The forward was written by Shadoe Stevens, and it is classic in itself. I only printed 50 copies of this book. It is hardcover with the images printed on the front. Half of the books were sold at my exhibit, so there are only 25 left. If you would be interested in owning one of these limited edition books please let me know. They are $35 each with $2 for shipping and handling. They will not last long because I am still selling them. The four paintings involved in this exhibition are:
If you are interested, please let me know through e-mail (Karen@KarenWheeler.com) and mail me a check or money order for $37 and I will ship the book to you ASAP. Also, please let me know if you would like the book signed and I will gladly do that. Thanks always for your interest and support.
Peace and light,
Karen
