About The Artist
Graduate Show
Before acquiring my BA in Art in 1979, I started to have doubts about employment opportunities for myself, and wondered if staying in school was going to be a waste of time and energy for me. I decided to ask an instructor, who I sort of looked up to, what his views might be on this issue, and I had it in my head that whatever he said was the absolute right thing to do. I won't mention his name here because he probably would and should be embarrassed. He told me that I could possibly get a BA, but no way could I get an MA. Not only did his comment insult my intelligence and capabilities, it made me want an MA more than anything. So I got it, and made a 4.0 GPA at the same time. The opening of my show fell on Easter Sunday, but I had a record 50 plus in attendance and was told by the secretary of the Art Department that it was by far one of the most popular graduate shows of late.
